CHANGE TO COACH DEPARTURE FROM NEWBURY
The coach park at the Wharf, Newbury has been closed, to start work on the new bus station.
For the coach walks, Barnes coaches will be leaving from the current bus station in Market Street.
The cars can continue to park in the same place.
At the back of the car park that we use, there is a convenient alley way that goes directly through to Market Street and this is the shortest walking route to the bus station.

Long Walk - 9.5 miles - 370 metres ascent - From Tuffley via Painswick Valley
The Long Walk starts in Tuffley on the southern outskirts of Gloucester, adjacent to Robinswood Hill Country Park. It follows the Wysis Way for a while, via Sneedham’s Green and over the M5, to Windsor Cottage on the B4073 (grid reference SO857135). The route continues to follow the Wysis Way, via Cud Hill Common viewpoint, up on to Painswick Beacon (283 metres high), from where there are outstanding views of Gloucester and Cheltenham, as well as the Malvern and Clee Hills to the north, the Brecon Beacons to the west and the Severn estuary to the south. From here it’s downhill across Painswick Golf Course, where we join the Cotswold Way for a short while. We continue down through the beautiful village of Painswick and on down Painswick Valley to Stratford Park (on the NW outskirts of Stroud), where the coach will be waiting for us. There’s a Leisure Centre and a Museum in the Park, both of which serve refreshments, and a Brewers Fayre (The Old Nelson) on Stratford Road, just outside the Park. The centre of Stroud is about half a mile away.
There will be three linear walks; each with a different starting point, but all finishing at the same place. The coach will leave The Bus Station, Market Street, Newbury (grid ref SU471668) at 08:30 am. Price: £12 per person - cheques payable to West Berks Ramblers. Contact the coach organiser, by telephone or email, to check availability and to book seats on the coach: First come first served. The coach will drop people off at the three start points and, pick-up from the end point; note that there is no provision for travel by car.
Please remember to bring suitable clothing and footwear, together with a drink and a picnic, together with clean shoes to wear on the return coach journey.
It is anticipated that the departure time from the end point will be at 16:00 with arrival back in Newbury around 17:30 depending on the traffic etc.
