Linear to High Wycombe Station over undulating terrain. Northwest via Bovingdon Green, Copy Green, Shillingridge Wood, Moor Wood and Widdenton Park Wood to Lane End for lunch at 'The Grouse & Ale' pub but bring own food. Then north across the M25 and through Great Wood and High Wood up to West Wycombe Hill, which is topped by the Sir Francis Dashwood-designed mausoleum and church with its 'golden ball' and affords good views (this is also a drop-out point by bus direct to High Wycombe Station). Continues northeast to Downley Common and southeast through Great Tinker's Wood. Map: E172, L175.

This is a linear walk
Train from Paddington at 08:45, calling at Slough at 09:22. Change at Maidenhead at 09:31/09:35 to arrive at Marlow at 10:01. Buy a Travelcard valid for Zone 6 and single tickets from West Drayton to Marlow and from High Wycombe to West Ruislip.
Alternatively, catch train from Marylebone at 09:00 which arrives High Wycombe 09:24 (buy return to High Wycombe). Head for High Wycombe Bus Station Bay 13 and catch Route 800 bus at 09:45 which arrives at Marlow Spittal Street (o/s 16) bus stop at 10:01. Walk a short distance southwest along the road (A 4155) to junction with Oxford Road and wait for party from Marlow Station.
The walk from High Wycombe Railway Station to High Wycombe Bus Station is 0.6 mile and should take about 12 minutes. Walk west towards Church Street, turn left towards Castle Street and right onto Castle Street, continue onto Church Street and Oxford Street, take the third exit at the roundabout, turn left and left again towards Mendy Street then right onto Mendy Street, turn right and the Bus Station will be on the right.
