Moderate 5 miles / 8 km
An exploration of Dumyat Hill and its surroundings. Starting at the car park west of Blairlogie, we ascend to Dumyat Farm, up the east ridge and down through Yellowcraig Wood, before crossing the fields back to Blairlogie.
Notes from Wraight
We can all agree that our local climb to Dumyat from Sherrifmuir Pass is definitely the finest anywhere. But there is more to this miniature mountain than meets the eye, and this Circular Walk explores some of these hidden gems.
Setting off from the car park, we soon see the dramatic cleft at the front side of Dumyat (The Warroch Glen), we will then gradually climb above Menstrie past a hidden lochan. After taking in the view from the summit we will descend into mixed woodland and come to the amazing Witches Crag (Yellow Craig). We will then make our way through the rhododendron tunnel, and finally we will meander through peaceful pastures and through the lovely hamlet of Blairlogie.
The walk follows reasonable footpaths, but there are a few muddy and rocky sections
The whole walk takes about 4 hours. This leaves plenty of time for stops, and to take refreshments at the Blairmains Farm Shop.
We meet at LACP at 9:30, then we assemble at The Blairlogie Meadow Car Park at 10am.
This car park is easily reached from the main A91 Hillsoots Road, 100 yards past Blairlogie Bus Shelter (on the Menstrie side).
There is a clearly visible "P" road sign, and the turning to the left has a brown sign "Blairlogie Meadow."
If the weather is poor we will do a more sheltered "C" Walk,
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday,
