Easy 6 miles / 9.7 km
Easy short linear canal walk from Birmingham New Street train station to Bournville train station with the option of coffee and cake in a cosy Bournville independent cafe (Kafenion) at the end. You will be amazed at the amount of wildlife you will see and how green it gets so close to the centre. The walk goes past the University and ends in the picturesque village of Bournville which is testament to the patriarchal nature of the Cadbury family. The group will return by train but it would be possible to walk back.
Meet outside Pret a Manager at Birmingham New Street Train station - opposite the departure boards and the main ticket office.
This is a linear walk
Entirely on canal tow paths / roads so trainers will be fine. The walk is flat.
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders.
You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
