Monday's walk is a fourteen mile walk from Cyfarthfa Castle, Merthyr. The walk starts with a slight diversion to pick up the Taff Trail as the usual path up the Taff Fechan Gorge is stil closed. The walk will follow the Taff Trail up to about half way up the gorge and descend into the gorge for the ascent up to Vaynor Church. From the Church the walk will follow lanes and fields over to the Common. Once on the Common the going can be a bit tough with tuffty and uneven grasses for a while but then the path goes up to the summit of Garn Ddu with all its views. Finally the walk goes down to the A470 and around the Llwyn Onn Reservoir and follows paths back to Merthyr on the west side of the A470 valley.
