This walk comes courtesy of of Aled Elwyn Jones' book 'Walking in the South Wales Valleys'. It is on the strenuous side of moderate at 11 miles and with a total ascent of 600 meters/1,980 feet.
We will commence the walk in Porth and start with a sustained climb up to Mynydd Troed y Rhiw. There is another sustained climb around the half way mark up to Tylors Town Tip. It's a pretty walk with several points of interest and mainly follows clear paths and tracks. However, there are some boggy parts so gaiters are advisable.
Daylight hours are short so we won't be hanging around and we will be leaving the car park promptly at 9:30.
Pontcanna Fields car park is at the end of Fields Park Road, off Cathedral Road in Pontcanna.
