Sheffield Spectacular -Wyming Brook, Stanage Edge and Redmires
Sunday, 17 February 2019
Start time: 10:00
(Estimated finish time: 16:00)
Moderate 11 miles / 17.7 km
Starting at the top of the rather alpine Wyming Brook valley we decend to Rivelin Dam and walk through the woods by the river until we cross the A57 and head up to Crawshaw Head and Moscar Cross. After re-crossing the A57 we join the very far end of Stanage Edge and follow it for several miles before heading back towards the Redmires reservoirs via Stanedge Pole and then back to the carpark at the top of Wyming Brook. This walk may start within a few miles of Sheffield city centre and be largely within the city limits but you wouldn't know it!
Wyming Brook car park.
The carpark isn't huge and is popular with dog walkers and local people so please consider car sharing and park neatly. There is no charge. To find it follow the A57 towards Sheffield and turn right and sharply uphill on to Lodge Lane (just after the left fork on to A6101 signposted for Barnsley and the M1). At the crossroads at the top of the hill turn on to Redmires road and follow the road along for about a mile. The carpark is on the right not long after the left turn on to Soughley lane.
There are no toilets at the start point (though there are plenty of trees to hide behind). The nearest en route are at the Heatherdene carpark by Ladybower reservoir.
