This is a circular walk
Starting from the Swainswick layby, we climb Little Solsbury Fort, descending to St Catherine's Valley via Charmy Down, and ascending to Cold Ashton. Here we pick up a short section of the Cotswold Way through to Hanging Hill to admire the ongoing dry stone walling project, on to Beckford's Tower (more dry stone walling) and Hamiltion House (guess what! More dry stone walling plus a recently uncovered parish boundary stone). Return to the cars via Upper Swainswick. Just over 15 miles and 2200 ft ascent. Note that there is currently no pub stop.
Give us a try!
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders.
You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
