This is a circular walk
This walk was a victim of heavy snowfall last March: it is to be hoped that the weather this year will be more spring-like. From Abergavenny we climb the less-visited summit of Ysgyryd Fach for a new perspective of familiar hills. The route then heads north to Ysgyryd Fawr which we traverse before following the Beacons Way for a short distance as we descend. Quiet lanes are then followed to Pantygelli and lunch. The last climb of the day leads to Deri and the ridge is then followed southwards before we lose height through attractive woodland on our return to the start.
Please note that the pub at Pantygelli is very food-orientated on Sundays and a stop there cannot be guaranteed. Much will depend on the size of the group and the weather, as using the pub garden is likely to be the only means of securing a seat.
Give us a try!
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders.
You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
