Moderate 8 miles / 12.9 km
There has not been a "reccy" of this walk and this will be the final day and opportunity to notch up DB Navigation points. So armed with my SWCP book, OS Map and Bradshaw's Handbook that says that Dawlish "is one of the prettiest places along the coast to pass a quiet summer month" .... nothing about a rowdy group on an April day.
From the railway station we will walk to "The Point" ferry landing stage to pick up the SWCP. We follow the SWCP along Teignmouth sea front and the railway eventually joins us on our left to Holcombe. We then head in land slightly to reach Dawlish and the Dawlish Sea Wall that has seen storm damage and been subject to news features over the last few years. We follow the spetacular Sea Wall and railway to Dawlish Warren. At Dawlish Warren we head under the railway and follow a minor road up the Exe Estuary to Cockwood and then a short stretch of the A379 to Starcross.
Teignmouth Railway Station. For people staying in the Exmouth area there is a stopping train that starts at Exmouth 9.10 and arrives at Teignmouth at 10.19.The walk leader will be joining this train at Newcourt station at 9.28
