Disley without Lyme

Group Manchester Weekend Walkers

Train-based walk: 9 miles, 250 metres ascent

Leader: John Lupton (joining at walk start)

Description: A circular walk around Disley without visiting Lyme Park. We'll drop down to the Peak Forest Canal and walk alongside it to Littlewoodend before climbing through Stanleyhall Wood over Jackson's Edge. The Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail takes us to the Macclesfield Canal, then the North Cheshire Way to the Lyme Park main entrance. A steep climb through Disleybank Wood takes us back on to the Edge for views across the Goyt Valley as we gradually descend. Finally a short climb up Hag Bank returns us to the village centre.

Meet Point: Piccadilly station for the train at 10.24.

Suggested Ticket: Off-peak day return to Disley £6.90 or Duo £10.30 for 2 travelling together.
