Start time: 10:30
Strenuous 11 miles / 17.7 km
This walk consists of five hills - Hitter Hill, Parkhouse Hill, Chrome Hill, Hollins Hill and High Wheeldon at about 420m. There are some very steep inclines and a couple of quite narrow ridges to negotiate. Quite a tough walk, but well worth it for the views and spectacular scenery. We may need to avoid a couple of sections if the weather is bad on the day, and there is an alternative route to avoid the last knee popping hill if anyone wishes to opt out. Probably worth bringing your poles if you have some.
The Quiet Woman pub is a bit of a throwback to the 50’s, and hasn’t really changed much since then. I can vouch for their beer and pork pies though!
Packed lunch required.
Walk Grade is Strenuous, as there is a lot of ascent, a couple of narrow ridges and some pretty steep climbs.
Please arrive at 10:15 for a 10:30 start.

Earl Sterndale is located off the A515, from Ashbourne. The walk starts from the village green, by the Quiet Woman pub. On Street parking is available around the green and in front of the church, but it is a small village, so car sharing would be best if possible and please respect the locals who may be trying to park for the Church service.
