Moderate 12 miles / 19.3 km
This is a circular walk starting in Orwell on the north side of the Cam valley. Initially heading south across the valley floor and over the river to Whaddon, we then head west and north entering Wimpole Avenue and crossing back over the Cam towards Wimpole House.
The walk will go around the outside of the house and pause in the stable yard for facilities. It is NOT intended that we will stop for a tour of the house or gardens. We will pick up the Wimpole Way heading to the top of the ridge before heading east through woodlands to pick up the Mare Way and returning via Toot Hill to the start point.
The walk is on well defined paths and track ways some may be particularly muddy in places. Walkers may care to join the leader at Orwell's village pub The Chequers about five minutes' walk from the car park after the walk.
Starting point of the walk: village hall car park in Orwell Village opposite the village, High Street, Orwell, SG8 5QN.
Please note: we may require you to produce your Ramblers membership card at the start of this walk. Prospective new members are welcome to join us for up to three walks before joining.
