Start time: 12:00
(Estimated finish time: 17:00)
Moderate 9 miles / 14.5 km
Reasonably priced parking behind Sainsburys in the lower car park. Copy & paste this link
we walk though Studley Roger then towards the river Skell & over the 7 bridges before heading to the Visitor Centre for a lunch stop. There is seating at the centre to have your packed lunch. We then have a short bit of road walking before turning off towards Hill House Farm (better than it was but still very muddy for a short distance) & then joining the Ripon Rowel Walk, woodland & the river Skell back to Ripon.
After walk refreshments in the One Eyed Rat. One of Ripons better drinking establishments, but be warned it's very much a beer drinkers pub. If it's tea or coffee you're after you could be in the wrong place. Has a very nice beer garden if the suns out
If you don't feel up to the full 9 miles then join us for the walk to the visitors centre, about 4.5/5 miles then walk back to Ripon at your own pace. The direct flat route is about 3.5 miles
Picked up a leaflet yeaterday about a new bus service between Ripon & Fountains Abbey. It starts on 19th August & runs until 22nd September. There would appear to be a free bus back from the Visitor Centre at 14.30,15.30 or 16.10
