WALK START POINT AND TIME: 9.50 Edale Station.
WALK DESCRIPTION: A pleasant walk passing through some of Derbyshire's most iconic scenery.
ROUTE: Edale train station, Hollins Cross, Castleton, Bradwell, Great Hucklow. Grindlow, Silly Dale, Wardlow Mires, Cressbrook Dale, Cressbrook, Monsall Dale, Little Longstone, Bakewell.
TERRAIN: mainly well defined paths over a variety of terrain.
TRANSPORT: As this is a linear walk the most economic option is to use public transport and take advantage of the Derbyshire Wayfarer ticket which can be purchased on the day or beforehand. This ticket allows the holder unlimited travel on the day within Derbyshire. An extension can be purchased for use from Nottingham and Beeston railway stations. There is also an option for those so wishing to use their car to the start point.
MEET POINT AND TIMINGS: Meet 7.15 Nottingham Midland station to purchase Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets - Price (including the Nottingham extension) £17.80 adults, £8.90 for over 60s - for the 7.46 train to Sheffield - change for Edale arriving 9.47.
Upon the termination of the walk at Bakewell we will take the 18.30 bus to Matlock and then take the 19.37 train to Nottingham (this allows time for toilets/refreshments etc.).
FOR ANYONE WISHING TO USE THEIR CAR: Meet 9.50 Edale station. Upon completion of the walk at Bakewell there is a regular bus service to Sheffield interchange where there is an hourly train service back Edale.
