Start time: 9:45
(Estimated finish time: 14:45)
Moderate 9.5 miles / 15.3 km
Meeting at Robertsbridge Station, we will head East, following the river Rother in places to Bodiam Castle (approx 5 miles). We will stop for lunch at Bodiam, where there is a National Trust tea room (soup/sandwiches/cakes) and a pub across the road with food. There are tables outside the tea room and a green with some seating next to the pub if you are taking a picnic. If the weather is good and we have made good progress we can stop long enough for anyone who wants to pay a quick visit to the castle (free for NT members, otherwise £9.40) - otherwise you can see it from the car park!
After lunch we head back west towards Roberstbridge. The countryside is gently rolling with some woodland - no major hills but there are a number of stiles! We do have some short road sections and will cross the A21 so dogs not allowed on this one.
The walk ends at Roberstbridge Station and there is a pub called the Ostrich opposite with a nice garden or a team room just down the road.
Car parking at the station £1 all day on Sundays, but there may be on road parking too. The London to Hastings train arrives at 9.34 (if running!) in time for the start of the walk.
