Strenuous 12 miles / 19.3 km
This circuit explores both base and top of the Black Mountains impressive north facing escarpment with a dramatic decent of Y Grib, more commonly known as the Dragons Back, and a walk through crumbling ruins of Castell Dinas, the highest stone built castle in Wales.
This walk is strenuous and has sections of very steep ascent and descent. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times due to roaming livestock and steep descents.
The Dragons Back Pub, Pengenffordd. Car park £2 per car (honesty box).
