Meeting time: 9:30
Start time: 10:15
(Estimated finish time: 14:45)
Leisurely 8 miles / 12.9 km
Phil Nicholas will lead the 8 Mile loop from the Oxwich Bay car park to Port Eynon. If the tide allows, we will walk along the Western edge of Oxwich Bay to look at the large rock fall that occurred in early January 2019. This should make the walk relatively flat & leisurely. Otherwise we will use the path through Oxwich woods, which has a steep climb at the start. There are toilets, shops & cafes at Oxwich & Port Eynon. All day parking at Oxwich currently costs £5.00. The walk will start at 10:15 at the car park in Oxwich Bay hence the walk is likely to finish between 14:00 & 15:00. Swansea Civic Centre car park should be used as the meet up point for car sharing. This will save fuel, unnecessary parking charges & the planet. I suggest people meet there at 09:30 to allow enough time to arrive at Oxwich on time & allow for Sunday cyclists.

This is a circular walk
Dear Trekkers, When I reccied the walk on 5th November, the 1.1 km, 0.75m section of coast path between 'The Sands' & 'Horton' was very muddy & slippery. Monday evening a friend relayed a message to me from a resident of 'Horton' who said the footpath between 'Horton' & 'The Sands' was in awful state. I am not surprised by this the weather has not improved since early November. I am not calling the walk off, unless a severe weather warning for the area on Sunday occurs. Tide allowing we maybe able to scramble over the rocks between 'The Sands' & 'Horton'. However I am warning people thinking of coming on this walk to use boots, gaiters & walking poles. I am even suggesting people bring a spare set of clothing & towel to be left in their car in case they fall flat in the mud. Also bring a large plastic bag to put your dirty clothes in, if you do fall over in the mud. Regards your mum Phil Nicholas.
