Wall and Packington Moor

Leisurely 9 miles / 14.5 km
Although relatively flat, the ground is rough under foot in places with plenty of mud. After dropping in on the excavated Roman ruins, we head east on roads, fields and tracks, with views towards Lichfield Cathedral, to circle Packington Moor, eventually retracing our steps back to Wall. Strategically placed – on Watling Street and near Ryknild Street – Wall was a key Roman military and supply post. Unfortunately, it is still at the hub of our road network and you will rarely be out of earshot of traffic, if not chariots! No pub stop but pub at the end if you wish.
