Meeting time: 9:30
Start time: 10:30
(Estimated finish time: 16:00)
Leisurely 10 miles / 16.1 km
Please note this walk is on Saturday (not Sunday as previously stated) and has a new meeting point.
A 10 Mile loop along the length of Cefn Sidan to reach Tywyn Point, before returning through Pembrey Forest. The North Eastern of the beach is a military firing range, but the MOD are very unlikely to be firing on a Saturday. Note there is a big set of red lights at the edge of the Firing Range. The lights will flash if bombing is due to or taking place. On the way back a detour will be made to Pembrey airport, where an extraordinary event occurred in WWII. The walk is flat & lesuirely, although there was a significant wet, but not muddy section within the woods, walking poles would be useful. The walk should afford excellent views of North West Gower, as well as the Carmarthen & Pembrokeshire Coasts across the estuaries of the Three rivers. The walk should take around 5½ hours, hence the finish time is likely to be 16:00.
Layby next to Lezzet Restaurant on the A48 near Penllegare Woods.
