We walk through fields and quiet roads to reach Ashley Down Farm and the houses in South Boarhunt. A field path takes us up onto the hill to the north side of Fort Nelson. We pass the monument to Admiral Lord Nelson and continue through fields and a wood to Portchester Common for a great view over Portsmouth Harbour. We return via Offwell Farm.

This is a circular walk
There are a four stiles on this walk and 4 gates; all are robust. The roads we walk along are very quiet. We ascend the hill in easy stages - no steep inclines!
