Saturday, 19 June 2021
Start time: 10:30
(Estimated finish time: 14:00)
Leisurely 8 miles / 12.9 km
This walk is limited to 12 people including the leader.
We start by walking up to the Heartwood magical woodland, a new forest planted by volunteers in 2009. See if you can spot any of the wooden creature carvings along the way!
Turning north, we walk through Nomansland common and on towards the surrounding farms, before turning back through Symondshyde Great Wood and making our way back to Sandridge. About half-way round we'll have a picnic stop for lunch.
The walk is mostly flat with some slight inclines. Walking boots are recommended for the forest sections.
COVID-19: Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given on the day, including the latest guidelines on physical distancing. For more information about COVID-19 and Ramblers group walks, please see our guidance for walkers on the coronavirus pages of the Ramblers website.
Booking your place: This walk has a limited capacity. If you would like to join, you MUST book in advance using the Stag Walkers Meetup group - see Notes for how to book & what to bring. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking so that someone else can take your place. Please DO NOT turn up for a walk without booking, as we will have to turn you away. Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk, or to share if requested with NHS Test and Trace.
See our Meetup site for start location & booking
Start time: 10:30
This is a circular walk
Please be aware of the walk grade: walks are graded Easy, Leisurely, Moderate or Strenuous
Use our Meetup group to book your place on the walk: https://www.meetup.com/StagWalkers/
Book your place by clicking the ‘Attend’ button when RSVPs are open. If the walk is full, click ‘join waitlist’ and you will be emailed if a place becomes available.
DO NOT book onto a walk unless you are pretty sure you will be able to make it.
UPDATE YOUR RSVP. We understand ‘life happens’ so if you need to change your RSVP please do this at least 24 hours before the walk and before booking closes to enable someone else to take your place.
DON’T NO-SHOW on the day unless it is absolutely unavoidable (we do understand ‘life happens’) because it prevents others from enjoying a walk when we are limited in the number of spaces.
*TAKE NOTE that if you no-show and/or cancel after the booking closing deadline three times, without extenuating circumstances, we will decline further bookings from you for a period of six weeks.*
CONSIDER OTHERS. Please don’t book onto every walk. We have a very limited number of walk leaders while we re-start, and that means limited numbers of walks on offer for everyone.
Bring a packed lunch or snacks and drinks, hand sanitiser and optionally a basic first aid kit, mask and a hand covering (to avoid touching gates and stiles).
As a formally-organised outdoor physical activity with COVID-safety protocols in place, official Stag Walkers group walks are exempt from gathering size limits. This exemption applies to the walk only and not socialising before or after. Please stick to current guidance during lunchtime and/or breaks on the walk.
Please also bear in mind the latest government guidelines on travel and transport.
