Starting from the village of Stourpaine, we take the North Dorset Trailway towards Gains Cross before turning westwards up into the woods on Shillingstone Hill. We then walk down the valley to Okeford Fitzpaine and across to Shillingstone where we follow the Stour Valley way to Child Okeford. From there we climb Hambledon Hill and explore its Iron Age hill fort followed shortly after by Hod Hill (another Iron Age hill fort) before descending back down to Stourpaine.
Please be aware that there are 3 climbs on this route that some may find challenging – however the views from the top are superb and well worth the effort.
