Recent walks have been well attended and we hope that the attached September walks programme and (hopefully) some lovely, early autumn weather will tempt even more of you to pull on those walking boots.
LITTERPICK
Our last litterpick on 11th June, part of the Great British Spring Clean, attracted a record number of willing helpers. We were able to collect 37 bags of litter from a section of the Jubilee River in just under 2 hours. Many thanks to all those who came to help.
VICTORIAN WINDSOR
On his recent evening walk, Reg led no less than 27 people around Windsor, looking at how Queen Victoria influenced better living conditions. Well done, Reg!
THAMES PATH/OLD WINDSOR WALK
Our latest regular walk, led by Karin, takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. This easy, 4 mile route follows the Thames Path then returns through Old Windsor, stopping at the Royal Farm Shop for refreshments. Look out for the September walk in the attached walks programme.
PUB LUNCH WALKS
Where possible, we are trying to offer a walk each month which is followed by an optional pub lunch. This is a good opportunity to rest weary legs, enjoy the company of friends and support our local pubs, so do look out for these and remember to book the pub lunch with the walk leader.
PETE SHEA
Many of you will already know that Pete Shea died in March following a short illness. Pete led many interesting and varied walks for the Windsor group and he was Chairman of the committee from 2005 – 2016.
Pete always led our Christmas picnic walks in Windsor Great Park and this year’s walk, on Sunday 19th December, will be held in his memory.
WINDSOR & DISTRICT AGM, SATURDAY 30TH OCTOBER
Our AGM will be at Eton Wick Village Hall, Eton Wick Road, SL4 6LT on Saturday 30th October. In the morning Joyce will lead a walk of approximately 4 miles starting from the village hall at 10.30. Walkers will be back at the hall by 12.30, with time to eat their packed lunches. Tea, coffee and cakes will be available.
The AGM will begin at 1pm and we very much hope that many of you will join us for the walk, the AGM or both. We very much look forward to seeing you there.
