Friday 12 April 2019 – There are two optoins

Option 1  - More strenuous walk

Pykestone Hill – B Walk - 9.5 miles with an ascent of 696m

This walk climbs the three Donalds arranged around the Drumelzier Burn. Pykestone Hill and Middle Hill both have flat summits, but Drumelzier Law is set apart from the main range and has a more impressive outline as well as fine views. Link to walk

Option 2

Hamilton Hill – C Walk - 4 miles with an ascent of 170m

A short circular walk that climbs from Hay Lodge Park up to Hamilton Hill where you can look out over Peebles town. Returns along Eddleston Water (The Cuddy). Link to walk

There are two options for the more strenuous walkers  and thesel are detailed below.

For the more leisurely walkers there are two walks under consideration at the moment and  teh actual walk will be finalised once a recce has been done for both walks. This will be done prior to the weekend away and the walk selected will be confirmed prior to the weekend.


Information on all walks under consideration is provided just for informaiton at this stage and they all included as a 'Festival' in the Ramblers Group and Events Manager.

Strenuous Walks

Option 1 

Dunrig Horseshoe – A Walk - 15 miles

A fantastic hill walk from Peebles, taking in the four peaks surrounding Glensax with extensive views in all directions. Peat bogs in places. Link to walk

Option 2

Cardrona Forest – B+ Walk - 14 miles

The route starts from the Tontine Hotel.  

The first 4.5 miles follows the same route as the Dunrig Horshoe walk.

Leisurely Walks

Option 3

Gypsy Glen and Craighead – C Walk - 4 miles

Leisurely walk with a moderate climb passing St Mary’s Loch providing great views down across the whole town of Peebles.

Option 4

Innerleithen to Peebles – C Walk - 6 miles

Linear walk taking the bus from Peebles to Innerleithen returning by foot on the old Tweed Valley Railways Path. This links Innerleithen, Cardrona, Eshiels and Peebles following in part the banks of the River Tweed. Link to walk.

Cademuir Hill Forts and River Tweed – C+ Walk – 8 miles

Cademuir Hill has a superb position just outside Peebles and has archaeological interest as well as fine views. This walk heads up to the forts on the ridge before returning to Peebles along the beautiful banks of the Tweed.Link to walk
