St Christopher's Hospice is looking for volunteers from organisations such as ours to help with their 2019 Fun Walkby taking a marshal point. The last Walk in 2017 raised £193,000 for specialist palliative care and support to 6,500 local people each year.
There are 29 marshalling points on 4 distance routes starting and finishing at the Grehound, Keston with walkers starting anytime between 8.30 amd 15.00. It involves people from our group manning a Marshal Point to direct walkers in the right direction, give encouragement and water.
If you are interested please contact Nicola Howard (Fundraising Assistant) on 01689 892988 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
In a similar vein there is the
Certitude support people with learning disabilities all over Bromley. They would like to organise a sponsored walk in 2019 and are looking for marshals, route advice and people to join them on the day and walk.
Current thinking is to do two routes, one shorter one through Norman park will be fully accessible so people in wheelchairs can join in for a stretch, before the longer version heads out into Bromley Common for 8-10 miles. We’d like to start and finish at our hub on Magpie Hall Lane, BR2 8ED, for back slaps and sandwiches. They are thinking autumn, though not too fussed on this.
As you can see this is in the planning stage but if you would like to be involved contact Tony U for more details as they become available.
From time to time Members of the Group organise walking holidays themselves or in conjunction with holiday companies and members are invited. See elsewhere on this site regarding The Ramblers Insurance.
The dates are July 30th – Aug 6th (Tue to Tue!!)
There is only one experienced HF Holidays’ trails leader so this would be “harder” walking – about 12 miles per day.

The price is £859 if sharing (and an additional charge of £175.00 for single rooms.)
There are 6 twin/doubles and 3 single rooms, thus the total number of people is 15, which is just enough to get a group reduction.
All singles and three of the six twins have been taken - so there are still three twins/doubles available.
