There are eleven Groups in the Lothian and Borders Ramblers Area, each arranges a walks programme suitable for people with different levels of experience and fitness. We organise more than 55 walks every month and offer a variety of walks –
- from 2½ miles to 12 miles+ in length
- flat strolls to challenging Munros
- weekend, mid-week and evening
- by coach, by car and public transport
- family walks
We have a Facebook page for the area and many of our groups are also on social media.
We extend a warm welcome to all new walkers, visitors and guests. You can walk with any group and if you think you might enjoy walking with us, please have a look at our list of walks, choose a walk, get in touch with the relevant group and come along!
Some groups organise social events and some arrange weekends away. Each walk is graded according to the level of challenge and is led by one of our volunteer walk leaders. Most groups have a central meeting point and lifts can be arranged from there. See the list of groups below to explore the walks available in each group.
If you live in our area and want to join us, we welcome you and would encourage you to explore our different groups and join the one which suits you best. Although it is possible to join the Ramblers by joining an area rather than a group, we would strongly recommend you joining one of our groups as you will then receive useful emails and information from your group. As an Area the only information we send out to individual members is the Bi-annual TRAIL magazine with details of the programmed walks. However, the Area does not send out information on any changes to walks, so you get maximum benefit from your Ramblers membership by joining a group and their email lists (Please contact the Groups directly to go on their email lists). Even if you join a particular group you are free to go on walks with any other group in our area and indeed in the whole of the UK, and join their email lists.
