Area name: Merseyside and West Cheshire
Welcome to the Merseyside and West Cheshire Area Ramblers
Ramblers’ Areas help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. Areas help look after paths and green spaces, open up new places to explore and act as the leading voice on walking matters in our neighbourhood. They support our local Groups to organise regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness.
Our Area is ideally situated to explore a stunning variety of walking landscapes. There are four National Parks - Snowdonia, the Lake District, Peak District and Yorkshire - all within easy reach. So too are the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - Anglesey, the Llyn Peninsula, the Clwydian Range, Shropshire Hills, the Forest of Bowland and the North Pennines. Closer to home walkers can explore a multitude of well maintained paths. Whatever your choice, be it the Sandstone Trail, the Wirral Circular or the Sefton Coastal Path, there is something for everyone.
The Groups in our Area lead more than a thousand walks each year, some at the weekend and some mid-week. Each Group is different. They cater for walkers of all abilities and offer a range of transport options to get to their walks including coach, minibus, car and public transport. In addition, walking holidays, both home and abroad, are offered to members.
As well as walking, Groups organise a number of social functions throughout the year.
Below are links to the Groups in our Area. Enjoy exploring what they have to offer!
Public Rambles are organised by our Area for people, who have not yet joined Ramblers, but do enjoy walking. More details can be obtained at their website below.
