As a walking group Ravenshead & Hucknall Ramblers welcomes new members. If you fancy giving it a try, you are more than welcome to join us on a few of our walks, before you decide to join the Ramblers. It's a great way of meeting and making new friends, getting fit and seeing some glorious coutryside throughout the four seasons and in all weathers! If you are interested in joining us or seeing if this is for you, we would be happy to send you a copy of our current programme of walks, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for futher information.
Ravenshead & Hucknall Ramblers was formed in 2008 by the merger of two neighbouring groups, the initial aim being to pool resources and strengthen membership. The Hucknall group was originally formed in 1990 with Ravenshead following a few years later in 1993. The merger has proved beneficial to all concerned and continues to thrive today.
As a group we put together a programme of walks every six months, which includes a walk every other Sunday, one walk per month on a Saturday and a shorter walk on the last Tuesday of every month. Our walks are mainly in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with the occassional wander into either Leicestershire, Yorkshire or Lincolnshire.
In addition to our walks we organise occasional social activities such as our annual meal in January, weekends away (more recently Stratford-upon-Avon) and social evenings/activities - including skittles, beetle drive, quiz nights and more recently a visit to the 'Bromley House Independant Library' (founded 1816), Nottingham. The library collection is housed in a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse, complete with walled garden to the rear. Following a guided tour of the library members enjoyed lunch at the 'Petit Paris'.
