Winter walks programme 2017/8.

Hi Everyone, it seems quite strange to be composing this on a really hot mid summers day and to talk about winter walks. However July is the time for starting the process.

A walk leaders meeting will be held at the Littlebury Hotel on Tuesday July 4th commencing at 6.30pm. You will be able to enter your proposed winter walks into the usual monthly spread sheets.

If you are unable to attend the meeting then I would like to receive your proposed walks by Friday July 7th. E mail is of course acceptable.

Also the subject of the sudden unavailability of walk leaders and possible cancellation of walks came up during the most recent 6 month period. The advice I received concerning this from the Area walks coordinator is shown below.

Walk Leader unavailability.

The walk will have been advertised in the Walk Programme booklet and therefore every effort should be made to find a replacement walk leader, usually by notifying the Group Walks Organiser that a replacement is required.

However, it isn’t always possible to find a replacement leader and in this case the following actions should be taken:

·                            Notify the Group Walks Organiser that the walk has to be cancelled;

·                            The Group Walks Organiser should notify the Area Walks Co-ordinator (Richard Birch) who can cancel the walk on Ramblers Walks Finder (which will also cancel it on the Oxfordshire Ramblers website) and Google Calendar;

·                            The Group Walks Organiser should notify the person responsible for the Group Facebook page so that a notice can be displayed on Facebook;

·                            The Group Walks Organiser should arrange for an email to be sent to all members on the Group email distribution list notifying them of the cancellation;

Where possible someone should attend the walk starting location at the walk start time to inform anyone attending that the walk has had to be cancelled.

I look forward to seeing you at the Littlebury on Tuesday July 4th, best wishes Richard Savory
