Walks Library Background
Bill Hodges of Shrewsbury Ramblers has explored the hills surrounding the Banwy, Vyrnwy and Tanat valleys for routes that capture the spectacular scenery even though the paths are not necessarily well way-marked or maintained.
Thanks to Bill’s diaries, notes and maps we have been able to make a collection of these walks and to date about sixty are documented. Map reading skills are needed to follow the routes.
Bill says: “I have enjoyed these walks over the course of more than twenty years. They are all walks I have led including one or two from the Shrewsbury Rail Rambles collection. Thanks are due to the many who have introduced me to the delights of walks and explorations over the Border – Gwen Birch, the late Jack Brown, the late Les Evans, Brian Jones, Emyr Jones, the late Ray Knowles, Keith Mason, the late John Pedley, Roy Powell. I hope the routes will be used to share the pleasure I have had”.
Audrey Menhinick maintains the library in hard copy and digital format and anyone seeking further information can contact Audrey via telephone or email.
