Members are invited to join our autumn 2023 walking holiday.  We have a provisional group booking with HF at Keswick (Northern Lake District) for a 3 night holiday from Friday 6th October to Monday 9th October 2023.  There will be two days of guided walks available with a choice of walks on each day.  Our base will be Derwent Bank which is set right on the shore of Derwentwater with large grounds, a formal garden and a jetty on the lake. There are more details on the HF website

The price is £389pp which is a group rate - saving of £46 on the individual price - plus an additional £30 if you are not an HF member. A deposit of £75 pp is required to secure the booking. The holiday is full board, including packed lunches.

The walks are in the Tread Lightly category which means all walks will start from the house with no need for any coach travel.  Room upgrades are available at £15 per night for Premier and £20 for Superior.  There are a few single rooms available.

Church Bay to Llanfachraeth and around South Stack, North Stack and Holyhead Mountain. It is a very varied coastline with cliffs and beaches, lovely views, spring flowers, seals and birds.  By popular demand George also led some extra, shorter walks for members on two of the days. Very many thanks to everyone for their contributions, making this such a successful and enjoyable trip.

In November 2021, Alison Curran suceeded Colin Chandler as our Group Chair.  Congratulations Alison, we are looking forward to working with you!  Alison is well known in the group as a Walk Leader and of course for her knowledge of fungi.  The AGM evening also featured some excelllent food and we learnt about our proposed project to improve Wat's Dyke Way between Maesbury Marsh, Oswestry and Preeshenlle Bridge.  Ceinwen Danby is stepping down as Thursday Walk Programme Co-ordinator and Nigel Wilkins has offered to take on this role and will be joining the Committee. A big thank you to Colin and Ceinwen for all their work for Oswestry Ramblers.
