Stone Footpath Working Party
Stone Ramblers, for at least the last 5 years, have organised a Footpath Working party that has aimed to tackle some of the problems that arise with footpaths in our local area. We work with a ranger from Staffs County Council to repair or replace old stiles and maintain access to footpaths by clearing them. We have done a variety of work including gates, steps and bridges as well as stiles. Every two weeks on Tuesdays we spend three to four hours working on local footpaths under the guidance of a Staffs CC ranger who also provides tools and materials. The aim is to help maintain the local network of footpaths and although the work is mostly manual; it is not too physically demanding. If you are interested in joining us regularly or just occasionally, then contact Derek Sweet (Tel: new number needed) or any other committee member for more details.
