A walk with great views which starts and ends in the village of Durisdeer.
This walk starts from the centre of Durisdeer village and after a 2 mile gentle ascent on a good path turns up onto the first of our hills. Some fairly short but steep sections at times give way to gentle up and down slopes with fantastic views to Drumlanrig castle and beyond, the Lowther hills and many more.
The walk was advertised as 6.5 miles but after completing the recce this morning I have increased the length to 8.7 miles, this allows for a longer spell taking in the dramatic hills and valleys as we descend. We will have a coffee stop and a lunch stop enroute.
We will meet up at Biggar Corn Exchange and car share to the start. We will leave Biggar at 09.00.
Start time in Durisdeer will be 10.00.
Distance - 8.7 miles
Duration - 5 hours with breaks
Elevation gain - 539 metres
Grade - B
The majority of the walk is on country tracks or quad bike trails. No stiles or fences to climb. Walking poles are recommended.
I will be at the Corn Exchange to arrange car sharing. If you plan to go direct to the start point please drop me a message or call.
Hope to see you on Saturday.
Kind regards,
Phil
