Overview

A circular walk in the south of the county through the pretty villages of Wappenham and Abthorpe returning via the edge of Bucknell Wood with hopefully lots of bluebells.

Flat walking on a mixture of hard surfaces, fields & woodland tracks, that could become very boggy after heavy rain. There are several stiles and some are quite loose so be careful and wear appropriate footwear.

Meet near St Michaels Church/White Horse. Please park considerately in the Village. Refreshments may be taken at the White Horse but alternatively we may retire to the New Inn Abthorpe. N.B. Please be aware of the roadworks at Queen Eleanor Roundabout on the A45 and the Towcester Relief road works south of Towcester. It is advisable to travel via M1 to A43 and exit the A43 at the A5 roundabout to Greens Norton or right at the next Roundabout (McDonalds) then via the backroads towards Foscote and Abthorpe then a left turn to Silverstone. Also Anglian Water have closed the Shutlanger to Heathencote road so no way via A508/A5! If you are significantly delayed please txt or call the walkleader!
