This walk is a coach trip embarking from Lossie Green Car Park, Elgin, pick-up via Rothes.
From Tomintoul, we walk along the River Avon and Ailnack gorge. Mostly on road and good tracks through woodland and over the River Avon. A moderate climb from Delnabo to the top of the gorge and return along the same track and back to Tomintoul. There is one shallow ford to cross aswell as one style.
At 600 ft wide, 300 ft deep and 6 miles long, the Ailnack Gorge is Scotland's largest glacial melt water channel. The wooded slopes around the gorge are home to red squirrel and roe deer, while the moors above are the haunt of red deer and mountain hare.
There will also be a short walk option.
If you have any questions, please contact the walk leader Deborah T (0794 063 717). Please leave a message remembering to leave your name and contact telephone number.
