A leisurely 4.5 mile linear walk from Berkswell train station around attractive parts of Balsall Common and finishing with some very minor country lanes before arriving at the Saracen's Head Pub for lunch. The walk itself starts at 1000 and ends at 1230 approximately, any other timings shown include train travel from Coventry and bus travel returning to Coventry. At a suitable location during the walk there will be a break when you may consume any snacks and drinks you may wish to bring. Subject to route availability on the day, this walk should be almost entirely paved and hence mud and stile-free.

0945 local train from Coventry Station to Berkswell arriving at 0955.
Walk as described followed by pub lunch, table is booked for 1300.
87 Stagecoach bus from stop adjacent to pub departs 39 minutes past each hour towards Coventry.
Those holding a bus pass issued in the West Midlands may travel free of charge on train and bus. Those holding a bus pass issued in England but outside the West Midlands may travel free of charge on the bus but must obtain a single ticket for the train. Those not holding any bus pass should ask for a single ticket for the train and a single ticket for the bus or enquire about possible day passes for bus and train and for group (eg 2 person) travel.
Coventry train station (old part) is the starting point for most walkers including the leader boarding the train to the starting point at Berkswell. Other walkers travelling from elsewhere should advise the leader about their joining details as mentioned in the walk description.
