Grade B walk 11.5 miles
The walk starts out as a leisurely stroll along the canalside but at the High Peak Junction soon ascends to Black Rocks where spectacular views will be had if the weather is kind. From there we make our way to the National Stone Centre where the cafe will be open for a coffee stop and toilets will be available. From there we climb the 1 in 8 Sheep Pasture incline of this 3/4 mile section of the High Peak Railway admiring the old Incline workings along the way. We then head south across farmland to Carsington Water and shortly after stop for lunch. We then head Westward to Wirksworth where a quirky little church awaits. From here we take in Bolehill before heading back to Cromford. If time allows at the end of the walk the world's first successful water powered cotton spinning mill built by Sir Richard Arkwright in 1771 is just across the road from the car park.
No Dogs please as we will crossing farmland with livestock.
