Via Denny Wood and Bishops Dyke. This circular walk heads towards Denny Wood across open heath.
The wood is traversed along the edge and exited by a footbridge on to open grass and heath. The edge of Denny Lodge Inclosure is followed to cross Bishop's Dyke. We then head towards Pig Bush across Penny Moor. The return skirts Ferny Crofts and then strikes out across Yew Tree Heath and Black Down to cross the railway and hey ho the car park.
A mainly level walk with only slight undulations. You can expect some mud and lying water. One section we will have to wade through a stand of water. Walking boots or wellingtons recommended. A brand new footbridge, being erected when recced a few days ago and assured it would be finished well in time for our walk. Some lovely Autumn colours to be enjoyed on route with good sections of footpaths despite mud and water.
