Join us for a 6 mile walk at Bishop Wilton followed by our Annual General Meeting (AGM)!
We will start the walk at the Village Hall, then leave Bishop Wilton on flat, quiet bridleways and lanes through fields. We will then join the road for a short way, before heading uphill beside and through a small copse of woodland to the village of Great Givendale with its charming church. We will then walk along back towards Bishop Wilton, with excellent views back over the village and Vale of York, before a steep and possibly muddy downhill descent back to Bishop Wilton.
After the walk we will head to the village hall to eat our packed lunch and have our AGM where we will discuss the last year and to vote in the new committee for the upcoming year! The AGM will start at 13:00. We know there are bakers in the group so please feel free to make or buy a cake and bring this along to share with everyone!
If you're interested in getting more involved in the running of your group then do consider putting yourself forward for a Committee position – positions will be voted for at the meeting – if you want to know more in advance please get in touch. If you are not available for the walk but still wish to attend the AGM then you would of course be very welcome, just meet us at the hall for 13:00.
🅿️ Car park at the Village Hall, Worsendale Road, Bishop Wilton, YO42 1ST – please bring a couple of coins for the honesty box
🚻 Toilets available at the village hall (please use the one on the right-hand side of the building before the walk as the main hall won't be open)
🚌 747 bus from York station at 09:00 – return on the 16:26 to Pocklington and then frequent connections to York
🐶 Dogs are welcome on the walk, but please be aware several fields contain livestock and there are a lot of pheasants around, so they will need to be on leads. Dogs are not allowed in the village hall, so if you are staying for the AGM you would need to leave your dog in the car.
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch to eat in the village hall after the walk (or buy something from the village café) – ☕tea and coffee will be provided, please also consider bringing cake 🍰 to share!
