Overview

This is a 5 mile 'out and back' hill climb up to 516 metres, with excellent views. The starting point is the drove road in Elsrickle at Wellbutts,  signposted ‘Public Path to Walston’,

The start of the walk along the track can be quite muddy in places. It goes up the hill and through three gates. Then just over the brow, we turn up to the right and follow the fence line up the spine all the way to the trig point. There are 3 short steepish climbs, levelling off in between.  The Ramblers grading is ‘moderate’. Our grading is B

We’ll probably take about 4 hours (includes a coffee break on the way up and lunch at the top).
