A linear walk that starts in Brandon and finishes in Thetford.
That takes in the Thetford forest, Little Ouse river, a power station and an optional visit to Thetford's impressive Motte and Bailey earthworks.
Meet in the car park of Brandon railway station at 11.30 am.
From Cambridge, buy a return to Thetford, and get off at Brandon. The 10.50 from Cambridge arrives at Brandon 11.25.
For car drivers Brandon station has NCP parking via an app for £3.00, considerate parking may be found in Brandon streets e.g. Station way.
This is a linear, so car drivers will need to buy a single train ticket from Thetford to Brandon, £5.70. Be careful to ensure the train stops at Brandon; the 36 past the hour stop at Brandon, the 22 past the hour does not.
There are no toilets at Brandon station, but Stanton Downham village has public toilets at about 3 miles stage. We will lunch at the picnic area by the river, at about 4 miles (the toilets here are closed).
Brandon has a few pubs if there is a wait for a train.
Please bring a packed lunch, waterproofs, sun cream, hat and walking footwear.
