This moderate 8 mile involves a fairly steep climb up from the start at Elmley Castle - but with the reward of panoramic views of up to 16 counties on a clear day. On the summit we visit the remains of an iron age hill fort, The Banbury Stone and a tower - Parsons Folly. For those who fancy it the Queen Elizabeth pub in Elmley Castle at the end of the walk offers a chance of a well earned drink.
The Hill is immortalised in poem 21 of A.E. Housman`s 1896 anthology, A Shropshire Lad.
In summertime on Bredon
The bells they sound so clear
Round both the Shires they ring them
In steeples far and near
A happy sound to hear
