This walk starts at the pretty village of Brewood in Staffordshire, from the car-park of the Three Stirrups pub. We'll walk along the canal towpath beside the Shropshire Union Canal, and along bridleways and footpaths of the Chillington Estate. We'll stop for mince pies and mulled wine (alcohol free available too) on the way and return over Avenue Bridge built by Thomas Telford, said to be the grandest on the canal, then return to Brewood along the tow-path.
This is a fairly flat route with a couple of quite steep steps up/down the canal banks. Its is likely to be very muddy in parts.
No packed lunch is required for this walk. There will be an optional pub lunch or snacks and or drink at the Three Stirrups for those who want to stay and socialise with a pre Xmas chat afterwards.
We've arranged that we can park in the car-park of the Three Stirrups pub (1 Engleton Lane, Brewood, ST19 9DZ) with the expectation that some of us will stay for lunch or a drink after the walk. Dogs are welcome both on the walk and at the pub, please let the leader know if you are bringing your dog. Toilets available at the end of the walk.
