A Linear walk from Buckden to Grassington
From the car park in Buckden we make a short uphill climb along Buckden Rake before dropping down through the fields to reach tbe village of Hubberholme. From here we have a short road walk before turning off onto the Dales Way footpath which we follow close by the river Wharfe until we reach the village of Kettlewell were we will stop for a lunch break.( cafes, pubs and toilets). After the break we continue on along the Dales Way footpath before turning off at Conistone Dib and heading over Grassington moor, and then dropping down past Bare House and into Grassington .Refreshments will be at the Devonshire P.H. after the walk.
Please contact the leader to book a place on the walk so that transport to the starting point can be arranged.
Unfortunately due to the numbers expected on the walk it is not feasible to procur transport to the starting point of the walk. With this in mind there may be a couple of changes that may have to implemented.
There is a service bus from Grassington to Buckden at 9.00am. This is a 16 seater minibus and is very popular with ramblers at this time of year so we may not all get a seat.
If this is the case the walk will be changed to a circular walk from Grassington to Kettlewell and back (16miles).
If anyone would pefer to do half of the walk (8miles) there is a bus from Kettlewell back to Grassington at 14.45.
There is an optional meal at the Devonshire P.H. after the walk which requires booking in advance (menu to follow when numbers confirmed).
The walk is along the Wharfedale valley with great views of the hills on either side of the valley (weather permitting). There are a few different terrains consisting of fields, woods and moorland with one or two uphill sections but nothing too strenuous and during the walk we may encounter farm animals in some of the fields we have to pass through.
