Circular walk from Bursledon station to Southampton Water and back, including the former Hamble airfield , the Pink Ferry to Warsash and the sea-wall path back along the tidal River Hamble.
Meet at Basingstoke station to catch the 08.49 train to Southampton, changing there for Bursledon. it is recommended that you bring your own drinks/lunch. There will be a break for coffee/snacks and a lunch stop at Hamble. There is a cafe at Hamble, but it's normally very busy with slow service. Toilets at Hamble too, unchecked. The cafe has a toilet for customers. The ferry costs £2.50 per person, cash. A modest celebration is planned at the end of the walk in the Jolly Sailor pub near to Bursledon station. The plan is to catch the 15.13 train from Bursledon, which should get us back to Basingstoke at 16.35.
There is mud in places on the route, partly due to the very high tides in early April. Walking poles are recommended. The sea wall path has an uneven surface.
