Overview

Castle Eden Dene and the Durham Coast. From the start, we briefly head south, crossing the A1086, then head towards Tweddle Farm/Benridge Farm. Joining the Hart-Haswell Railway path, we walk along past Hesledon, then turn north and head to the Dene, walking through this to Blackhall Rocks and back along the clifftop to the start.

Terrain: Mostly defined paths, a few stiles, some road walking, three lots of steps (there is an alternative route to avoid two of these, but is very slippy and not easy going). Some muddy bits, but these could dry out if we get good weather.

Refreshments: Lunch stop en route.
