Overview

Great views of the capital, wartime defences and a temple folly are just a few of the delights of this surprisingly rural stroll towards London town. We also take in much of Epping Forest, Good Queen Bess's hunting lodge and a disused boating lake before reaching Walthamstow with its ancient village. Walk done at a good pace with earlyish finish on what is a train strike day. A stretch of path is likely to be under water so best bring gaiters and wear proper boots. Pub at the end with refreshment options en route. Bring a packed lunch.
