Overview

Essex Way walk 2. Beginning in Chipping Ongar, we will initially walk to Toot Hill to pick up the next part of the Essex Way. We pass through Greenstead which is famous for its Saxon Church, believed to be the oldest wooden church in the world, about 645AD. Circling back to Chipping Ongar for lunch. Please make your own arrangements; plenty of cafes and pubs. After lunch we continue on the Essex Way and finally back to Chipping Ongar via Three Forests Way. Essex Way covered will be approx 5.5 miles. The distance of 11 miles is 5.5 before lunch then a further 5.5 afterwards.
