Chipstead: 4 Woods and 1 Downs

Banstead Woods. Heading through the woods to Chipstead Downs, crossing the railway line and climbing up to Long Plantation. Around the Plantation and down to Chiphouse Wood before skirting Lunch Wood, passing the orchard, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe on the way back through Banstead Woods to the Holly Lane car park . No stiles. Woodland paths. One road crossing (twice). Undulating terrain with total climb of 525 ft. One steep descent. No facilities. Free parking. May be muddy if wet. Advise usual precautions if strong hot sun - bring hat, sunblock and drinking water (beware tall nettles and ticks in summer)
